Diolle

La Diolle is an old grape variety from Valais (Switzerland), first mentioned in 1654 near Conthey. Until 2007, the Diolle was considered to have disappeared, until two surviving vines were discovered in a vine wall in Savièse. The DNA test indicates that it is a child of Rèze. This revived grape variety was planted by Didier Joris and José Vouillamoz in 2015, so we will have to wait until 2018 for the first wine of this “new old” grape variety from Valais.
