Lafnetscha

Mentioned already in 1627 in Haut-Valais (Switzerland), Lafnetscha was born from a natural cross between Humagne Blanc du Valais and Completer des Grisons, which makes it a half-brother of Himbertscha. Its name comes from Laff-nit-scha, a dialect form of laff es nicht schon (= don't drink it too early), in reference to its high acidity. Cultivated exclusively in Haut-Valais, this local rarity of medium maturity gives dry wines, with sustained acidity, with notes of apple and elderberry.
