Müller-Thurgau

Long wrongly considered to be an artificial Riesling × Sylvaner cross obtained by the Swiss H. Müller in 1882 in Germany, the DNA test denied this relationship by showing in 2000 that it was in fact a Riesling × Madeleine Royale. Despite everything, the name Riesling × Sylvaner (or Riesling-Sylvaner) was wrongly kept in Switzerland, where this very early variety, with abundant yields and susceptible to fungal diseases, produces light, aromatic and not very complex wines.
