Plant Robert

The DNA test confirmed that Plant Robert is none other than a biotype of Gamay, more concentrated and spicy, which has survived locally in the canton of Vaud. Its name comes from the old French "rober", which meant "to steal", and which gave the verb to steal, which would betray its origin. The Plant Robert could indeed have been "stolen" from the canton of Vaud from a cart from La Dôle at the beginning of the 19th century. Saved from extinction in the 1960s, Plant Robert has been safeguarded since 2007 by an association of producers from Lavaux.
