Roussanne

Originally from the Rhône valley, Roussanne appeared in 1781 in a text on the wines of the Hermitage. Its name refers to the reddish color of the berries when ripe. The DNA test suggests that the Roussanne is a parent or a child of the Marsanne. Of medium maturity, Roussanne is sensitive to wind, powdery mildew, gray rot and mites. In Switzerland, Roussanne is much less widespread than Marsanne, perhaps wrongly when we know the aromatic qualities and high acidity of this grape variety, giving the wines a great longevity.
