Sémillon

Originally from the Sauternes region in Bordeaux, Sémillon takes its name from semeljun, a local dialect for Saint-Émilion. The DNA test suggests a relationship with Sauvignon Blanc, with which it is often blended in sweet wines from Sauternes. This variety with variable yields is susceptible to gray rot. Not widely used in Switzerland, it produces herbaceous wines with aromas of wax and lemon.
