A Merzling × Geisenheim 6493 hybrid obtained in 1975 in Freiburg in Baden-Württemberg (D) and authorized in 2004, Solaris was named after the sun, symbolizing its vigor and precocity. In Switzerland, this variety which is very resistant to fungal diseases is planted in particular by producers who care about the environment, because it does not require much treatment.

Aroma Potential
Gives a dry wine with a fruity bouquet sometimes with a light musky taste, powerful, warm, which can present in its youth a very slight bitterness. Winemaking with overripe grapes gave very interesting results. Banana aromas, exotic notes (pineapple, lychee, mango, ...), hazelnut.
